Microsoft Excel for Windows
by Microsoft
Spreadsheet for workbooks, formulas, tables, and charts, as Microsoft 365, one-time Office, or Excel for the web.

Microsoft Excel is the Windows spreadsheet people open when a workbook needs formulas, tables, and charts. The subscription desktop app, a one-time Office license, and Excel for the web are separate choices.
Editorial description
Excel stores work in workbooks. Formulas calculate from other cells, tables keep rows and columns together, and charts turn a range into a picture of the result. That work can sit in the Microsoft 365 desktop app, in a one-time Office release such as Office 2024 or Office LTSC that a household or organization already bought, or in Excel for the web. These are not interchangeable products, and they do not share one installer.
The subscription desktop program arrives through the Microsoft account and Microsoft 365 setup. Softcoria does not store the installer. Excel for the web stays in the browser, signs in with a Microsoft account, and is a different way to open a workbook from the installed desktop app. Match the path to the license you actually hold.
For a home PC, Microsoft lists Windows 11, a processor at 1.6 GHz or faster with two cores, 4 GB of memory — 2 GB is only the published 32-bit footnote — 4 GB of disk, a display of 1280 x 768, and DirectX 9 or later when graphics acceleration is used. The numbers kept on this page are the 64-bit (x64) set. Subscription licensing and subscription features need an internet connection, and a Microsoft account is mandatory. Windows 10 left mainstream support on 14 October 2025. New Microsoft 365 features are not supported on Windows 10. Security updates for Microsoft 365 on that system continue until 10 October 2028, so a machine used for workbooks should run Windows 11.
