Microsoft PowerPoint for Windows
by Microsoft
Desktop presentation app in Microsoft 365 and Office for building slides, presenting them, and exporting a deck. PowerPoint for the web is the browser version.

Microsoft PowerPoint is the desktop program for slides in Microsoft 365 and Office. Presenters use it to build a deck, run the show, and export the file, while PowerPoint for the web is the browser version of that work.
Editorial description
Desktop PowerPoint is the full Windows app for a presentation: the slides, the speaker notes, and the controls a presenter uses while the deck is on screen. Export the deck when the audience needs a file they can open after the live session. PowerPoint for the web is the browser version and is a different way to open the same kind of work.
The desktop app is licensed through Microsoft 365 or Office. A Microsoft account and an internet connection are required for licensing. The current home baseline is Windows 11. Windows 10 reached end of support on October 14, 2025. Microsoft 365 security updates on Windows 10 continue until October 10, 2028, and those updates do not add new features.
The home requirements list a 1.6 GHz, 2-core processor, 4 GB of RAM on the common case and 2 GB on 32-bit Windows, 4 GB of disk, a 1280 x 768 display, and DirectX 9 or later. This listing records the x64 desktop case used for slides, presenting, and exporting a deck.
